ABOUT THE YIRT

The Young Indigenous Research Team (YIRT) started in the summer of 2022, when a small group of Indigenous alumni of the Youth Research Academy (YRA) gathered to discuss ways they could continue working on research projects following their completion of the YRA program.

Since that first meeting, the YIRT have led and contributed to a number of research projects to support positive health and well-being among Indigenous youth in BC. The YIRT have prepared reports and other materials, and have engaged with communities across the province to share their findings.

From their first meeting,YIRT members shared reflections on what they were bringing and hoping to get out of their work together.
